A young girl and a woman are playing with a tablet at a pink pretend kitchen set in a doctor's office or playroom. The girl is holding a toy burger, and the woman is looking at the tablet. The pretend kitchen includes toy bottles, a mixer, and other cooking accessories. There is a butterfly-themed whiteboard on the wall with colorful butterfly decorations.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

We believe every child deserves a voice! Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to tools and strategies that support or replace spoken language, helping children express themselves and connect with others. AAC may include picture systems, communication boards, sign language, or high-tech speech-generating devices.

Our therapists work closely with families to find the right AAC system for each child’s unique needs. Through individualized therapy, we teach children how to use AAC effectively, while also guiding parents, caregivers, and teachers in supporting communication at home, school, and in the community.

With AAC, children can share their thoughts, needs, and feelings—building confidence, independence, and stronger relationships with the people around them.
